Why does Windows XP show some CF cards as 'Removeable' and others as 'Hard Drives' ?
This is entirely determined by the controller on the CF card. The controller returns a bit in the ATA Identify Device command that labels the media as being 'removeable' or not. Windows XP and Windows XPe (embedded) do not allow multiple partitions to be created on removeable media. Contact your CF card vendor about obtaining CF cards that are marked as non-removeable.
